Day 1 of the 3 days Uganda gorilla habituation experience from Kigali
Arrival and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: On the first day of the three-day Uganda gorilla habituation experience from Kigali, upon arrival at the international airport there, you will be greeted by our driver/guide who will give you a briefing on the safari before beginning the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes between three and four hours, and along the route, you’ll pass the Cyanika border in the Kisoro area and get beautiful views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, traditional homesteads, locals, and the Kigezi hills, among other things. You will check into the lodge and have lunch when you get to the park.
After lunch, you’ll get ready for an afternoon Batwa cultural tour where you may meet the pygmies who formerly called Bwindi Forest home before it was declared a national park. The Batwa cultural trip includes visits to their farms and homesteads where you may learn about their way of life, sample some of their traditional foods, and hear old tales and songs, among other things. You will return to the lodge for supper and sleep after the cultural tour.
Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla habituation experience: On the second day of the three-day trip to Uganda from Kigali, after an early breakfast, you’ll meet your driver-guide and pack a lunch before heading to the park’s administrative center for a briefing on the guidelines and expectations for habituated gorillas. Following the briefing, you will be divided into groups of four and set out on a jungle trip to the location where the gorillas spent the previous night with a team of researchers, scientists, physicians, park rangers, and guides. You will see several plant types while hiking, as well as birds, animals including forest elephants and bushbucks, other primates like red-tailed and black-and-white colobus monkeys, and l’hoest monkeys. Once the habituated gorillas have been identified, you will be permitted to spend 4 hours with them in their natural habitat.
