Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, Kigali city tour & transfer to Ruhengeri.
After arriving at Kanombe international airport in Kigali, you’ll be picked up by our ever-on-time driver, and immediately start your city tour from the Nyamata genocide memorial site, where over 5000 people were killed and buried during the 1994 genocide.
After visiting the first house, the national museum, and some shopping, drive to Ruhengeri and check in.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes & Visit Twin Lakes
Following breakfast, you will head to Kinigi, the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park. As soon as you finish breakfast, you will be taken to the park headquarters for a briefing. Once in the tropical rain forest, you will need to search for mountain gorillas from where they were the previous day until you find them.
Twin lakes
Their daily chores may include feeding their young, climbing trees, and just relaxing. Take your best photographs having switched off your flash. It takes no more than one hour to complete this exercise. Once you have obtained your gorilla tracking certificate, you will return to the park offices.
Lunch will be at the lodge. During the afternoon, you may visit the lake and the spectacular caves around the lake and take remembrance photos with lots of fun poses. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Drive to Akagera National Park.
Breakfast will be served in a warm morning, followed by a safari land cruiser transfer to Akagera National Park. Arrival in Kigali will be around 11 am, followed by the transfer to Akagera, reaching in time for lunch.
An experienced tour guide will accompany you on a game drive after lunch. In the evening, check into the hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 4: Game drive & Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema
Getting up early for breakfast and going on a morning game drive will enable you to catch up with predators returning to their hideouts.
During the game drive, you will have the opportunity to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, orbit, topi, bush baby, leopard, and bushbuck.
Return to the Lodge for late breakfast and relax as we wait for lunch. On our boat ride on Lake Ihema later this afternoon, we may encounter many hippos, huge Nile crocodiles, and over 525 bird species. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Drive to Kigali
Wake up early and go for a morning game drive in the other section of the park, then return to the lodge for breakfast and proceed to Kigali for lunch.
Afterwards, you will tour the city to see the local markets and shops. Afterwards, be dropped off at the airport or hotel of your choice for your flight home.
