Detailed safari
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, Drive To Akagera National Park And Boat Cruise
In Kigali, your driver guide will pick you up at the agreed location to transfer you to Akagera national park, where you will have the opportunity to watch a variety of game animals on an early morning game drive.
It is especially rewarding to see herbivores such as elephants grazing within the plains or rhinoceros. You will also see some magnificent sights in the park and a number of rewarding attractions after your game drive.
As you cruise around Lake Ihema, you’ll see hippopotamuses, crocodiles, and endangered bird species like the shoebill stork, as well as African Kingfishers hunting the surrounding swamps and lakes. Transfer to your lodge/ hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive In Akagera National Park
Start your morning with a game drive anticipating seeing different animals grazing early in the morning and predators seeking their early morning prey.
Upon returning from your game drive, connect with your driver guide and drive back to your lodge for lunch. On the afternoon game drives, you will witness a number of wildlife species you may have missed during the morning game drives. These game drives will give you a clear view of the early risers, such as elephants, rhinoceroses, oribis, and many other rewarding attractions in the park.

During the evening game drives, you will witness a variety of carnivores hunting for their prey and herbivores returning to their hiding places.
Day 3: Rhino Tracking/ Hot Air Balloon Safaris Community Tour
On the third day of your Rwanda safari experience, go rhino tracking to observe the rhinos up close. During your walk to the rhinos, you will observe their feeding patterns and how they coexist with each other.
Alternatively, you can take part in a hot air balloon safari, where you will be able to see the park’s wildlife and animal species up close.
Your experience will be followed by lunch at your hotel and a community tour or evening game drive in the afternoon. Observe Rwandan traditional dances, folk songs, and more to gain a deeper understanding of their culture. After the experience you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive to Nyungwe National Park and Canopy Walk
As part of your Safari, breakfast will be served early on the 4th day before you meet your driver guide and transfer to Nyungwe forest. During your drive to Nyungwe forest National park, you will see a number of rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, homesteads, etc.
During the stopover in Butare, you will visit the national museum of Rwanda and the king’s palace in Nyanza.
In the afternoon, you will go on a canopy walk in Nyungwe national park, which will give you an excellent view of the park as you walk along a suspended metallic trail. You will see chimpanzees, monkeys, numerous bird species, and a number of primates swinging among the branches before returning to the lodge or hotel after the rewarding experience. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
DAY 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe National Park and departure To Kigali
During the 5th day of your Akagera and Nyungwe national park safari, you will get a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the Nyungwe forest in search of their active and playful fellows. While jumping from one tree to another, chattering and laughing, the Chimpanzees can be easily spotted. About three hours are usually required for tracking chimpanzees.
Following the rewarding experience of finding them, spend an hour taking pictures and videos, then continue to Kigali City, enjoying lunch along the way. You will be dropped off at a location of your choice in Kigali city or at the airport for your scheduled flight back home
