Day 1: Arrival, visit Kigali genocide memorial sites and Drive to Volcanoes National Park
In day one of our 3-day Rwanda Gorilla safari, you will be picked up from the airport by a representative from our company, who will take you to Kigali city for a short city tour where you will be able to visit the Kigali genocide memorial sites, eat lunch, and then proceed to Volcanoes national park.
The first stop on this trip is at the park headquarters in order to obtain permits. Once you have obtained the permits, you will proceed to your lodge in the evening to check in.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda – Volcanoes National Park
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
On the second day of your tour you will wake up in the morning and have breakfast, then park your lunch box and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking, the expectations, the dos, and do nots in order to have the best experience in the gorilla habitats.
Upon completion of the briefing, you will be assigned a family of gorillas and will start your expedition into the jungle with a group of no more than 8 people accompanied by armed rangers and guides. Trekking gorillas in Rwanda takes between 30minutes to full day.
As soon as you reach a close proximity with the habituated mountain gorilla family, you are allowed to spend just one hour observing, learning from, taking photographs, and interacting with the mountain gorillas.
After the trek, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Breakfast at the lodge, packed lunch and dinner at the lodge.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Iby’Iwacu & Departure
In the third day of your 3 days Rwanda Gorilla trekking safari, you will wake up in the morning, enjoy your breakfast, and head into the forest for an amazing experience trekking the most cheerful primates in the world, the golden monkeys.
In the volcanoes national park, golden monkey trekking takes about 2 to 4 hours, and if you want to take photographs with a flash light, you can do so but I can assure you that you will enjoy the experience of golden monkey trekking.
Upon returning from the Golden Monkey trek, you will have lunch at the lodge and then meet your driver for a cultural encounter at the Iby’Iwacu cultural center, where you will be able to see stunning performances of traditional dances and dramas.
When you are done with the cultural tours in Rwanda, you should return to your hotel, freshen up, check out, and begin the journey to the Kigali International Airport for your departure.
