Detailed Itinerary for 11 Days Explore Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel in Kigali
Depending on the time of your arrival, you may go on a brief city tour of Kigali and explore the genocide memorial site after being greeted by our guide at Kanombe International Airport or when you are picked up from your hotel. Day 2: Kigali City Tour
In the morning, get up, eat breakfast at the inn, and leave to meet your driver-guide. You will set out on a journey of Kigali, stopping at places like the Kimironko Market, Inema Arts Center, Nyamirambo Women’s Center, Caplaki Craft Village, and Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, to name a few. Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
On the third day of your 11 Days Explore Rwanda Safari, you will travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park following a morning meal. You will travel through beautiful and magnificent hills along the way as well as cultivated countryside. Visit the royal King’s Palace in Nyanza for a cultural explanation of Rwanda’s past. Continue on and arrive in Butare town where you will have lunch. After lunch, you will explore the Rwanda National Museum.
Go ahead and arrive at the park in the afternoon before continuing on to the Gisakura Tea Estate. As you are guided through the tea-making process from brewing to processing to packaging, you can learn how Rwandan tea is produced. Try some Rwandan tea to round out your tea journey. Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Canopy walk
You will have breakfast first thing in the morning on the fourth day of your 11-day Rwanda safari before heading to the park’s headquarters in the Nyungwe forest for a briefing and chimpanzee tracking.Prior to this excursion, it is advised to prepare a packed lunch and lots of water because it can occasionally last longer than 6 hours. You can find a range of animals and birds in the forest, including colobus monkeys, which can number up to 400 in a group, the Rwenzori Turacco, and black and white casqued hornbills. After lunch, you can head to the Canopy Walk, a 50-meter-long swing bridge that is hung from sizable trees. After viewing the magnificent rainforest from above and spotting wildlife moving about below you, you will connect to your lodging and spend the remainder of the evening at your leisure. Day 5: Colobus Monkey Trek & Transfer to Ruhengeri
On the fifth day of your 11-day Rwanda safari, breakfast will be provided early. Then, you’ll check out of your hotel and drive to the park to track the black and white colobus monkeys. Depending on where the monkeys are, tracking can take anywhere from four to six hours after it begins at five in the morning. Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Parc National Des Volcans
The centerpiece of this 11-day Rwanda safari is a gorilla trekking excursion on day six. After breakfast and a briefing from RBD authorities, depart for the gorilla tracking early in the morning. The gorilla tracking encounter is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. In order to find the gorillas, the rangers will take you far into the jungle. You will travel up and down the rough terrain before coming across these peaceful creatures, who will act for you for about an hour. Due to the gorillas’ up-and-down motion, the action in Rwanda can last three to five hours.
This is a fantastic and thrilling time. There are numerous chimpanzees and other primates, including monkeys, birds, and more, along the path. Visit Diane Fossey’s graves and the Karisoke study center in the afternoon after returning for lunch at the lodge. Diane Fossey was assassinated for defending these endangered mountain gorillas. Day 7: Golden Monkey tracking and Transfer to Kigali
On the seventh day of your 11 Days Explore Rwanda Safari, you will go golden monkey hunting after breakfast. In the Virunga forest, this exercise also takes about two to three hours. Day 8: Transfer to Akagera Game Lodge
After eating breakfast at your hotel, travel for two hours to Akagera National Park. You will go on a wildlife drive in the park’s southern region when you first arrive. Day 9: Morning game drive and Boat ride on Lake Ihema
More activities in Akagera National Park are highlighted on the ninth day of this 11-day Rwanda safari. You will go on a Northern circuit game drive early in the morning after breakfast to look for animals that you might have missed during the prior game drive. The evening game drive did not ensure that all the animals would be visible.

Boat Cruise On Lake Ihema
Some people are morning people and are only visible in the morning. In the meantime, head return to the lodge for a quick visit. You will take a boat trip on Lake Ihema after lunch, giving you a chance to see the nearby hills and swamps. Expect to see more bird species, alligators, and hippos. After supper, head back to Mantis Akagera Game Lodge (Midrange) or Magashi Tented Camp (Luxury) for the night.
Day 10: Full Day Game Drive
After brunch at your inn. Your driver guide will be ready for you at your hotel. Go on a full-day game drive to experience more of Akagera National Park’s northern circuit, which is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Eat supper and lunch at your lodge. Day 11: Transfer back to Kigali city and Departure
